Dry cleaning is a process used to clean clothes and fabrics without using water. Instead of water, a special liquid called a solvent is used to remove dirt and stains from the fabric. The clothes are placed in a machine that looks like a regular washing machine but works with the solvent instead of water. This method is gentle on delicate fabrics like silk, wool, and certain synthetic materials that might get damaged or shrink if washed with water.
The dry-cleaning process involves several steps. First, the clothes are inspected for stains, and special treatments are applied to tough spots. Then, they go into the machine with the solvent, where they are cleaned and rinsed. After cleaning, the solvent is removed, and the clothes are dried. Finally, the garments are pressed and ironed to remove any wrinkles, making them look fresh and ready to wear. This method is especially useful for clothes that need special care or have labels that say “dry clean only.”
Dry cleaning is essential for maintaining the quality and longevity of certain fabrics and garments. Many delicate materials, such as silk, wool, and some synthetic fabrics, can be damaged or shrink if washed with water. Dry cleaning uses a special solvent that effectively removes dirt, stains, and odors without compromising the fabric’s integrity. Additionally, dry cleaning helps to preserve the color, texture, and shape of your clothes, keeping them looking new and fresh for a longer time. For garments labeled “dry clean only,” following the recommended care instructions ensures they remain in the best possible condition.
Starch is a substance used in laundry services to give fabrics a crisp and smooth finish. It helps to stiffen and add body to garments, making them look fresh and well-pressed. Starch is commonly applied to dress shirts, collars, cuffs, and table linens to keep them looking sharp and wrinkle-free for longer. If you prefer a stiffer finish for your clothes, you can request starch when scheduling your pickup.
You don’t need to do anything special to prepare your clothes. Simply place them in a bag for our driver to collect. If there are any specific stains or concerns, you can note them in your pickup request or attach a note to the garment.
Our professional team is trained to handle a variety of stains. Please point out any stains when you schedule your pickup or attach a note to the garment so we can apply the appropriate treatments.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, and to the extent permitted under applicable law: 1. Any reimbursement for a dry cleaning or laundry item deemed damaged by DryCleanLA shall be limited to and shall not exceed ten (10) times the charge for cleaning the damaged item (not inclusive of tax and other fees) regardless of brand, price or condition of the garment, or $1000, whichever is lower. 2. If there is any risk of further damage occurring during cleaning, we will hold off and check in with you before proceeding. Our cleaning team carefully inspects all garments during the cleaning process to ensure we take the best care of them.
Sometimes, we identify pre-existing damage on a garment. If the damage is repairable, we will recommend repair. If the damage is unrepairable, or you would like to proceed with cleaning without repair, we ask that you give us your approval (and release DryCleanLA of any liability if damage should occur). This may cause the cleaning process to be delayed by a few days.
If a garment shows susceptibility to color bleeding, we will not clean it and return it to you uncleaned. Even with your release of liability, we cannot clean these items as they pose a risk to other garments that would be cleaned at the same time. We thoroughly test all items for unstable dyes, which can be a result of the manufacturing process. If you do have a garment with the potential for color bleeding, we recommend that you spot treat it at home by hand washing any parts that requires cleaning. If you would like to talk to our of our garment care experts about a particular garment, feel free to email us at info@drycleanla.com.
